Thousands of vulnerable youth are in critical need in El Salvador.
In the densely populated, conflict-ridden areas of Santa Ana, San Salvador, and San Miguel especially, far too many young girls and boys live with little hope for the future. Economic and social insecurity, as well as a lack of human rights protection, leave them vulnerable to a cycle of violence that often becomes impossible to escape. In fact, according to UNICEF, El Salvador suffers the highest child and adolescent murder rate in the world.
This is why FUSALMO exists.
In partnership with Salesian Missions, FUSALMO works to address the root causes of poverty, inequality and violence—working with and for children, families and the greater community to transform the futures of thousands of youth.

Founded in 2001, FUSALMO offers traditional and non-traditional educational opportunities for at-risk and marginalized girls and boys. Through recreational programs, enrichment opportunities in the arts and music, vocational training, and more, they stay off the streets, learn to cooperate and co-exist, and gain the skills they need to become productive, contributing members of a more peaceful society.
We have already served more than 265,000 children and their families. But so many more need our help.
