Destruction, death, despair, have hopelessly burdened the lives of thousands of people. Salesians and their students have been uplifted by the visit of the Salesian Rector Major and he has brought witness to the solidarity of the congregation and of the Salesian family. Like the seed that was placed in the heart of those who work in the name of Don Bosco. "Haiti must be born again," was the appeal of Don Chavez for reconstruction and the rebuilding of the human spirit. Published: January 17, 2012 |

![]() | Lost Childhood in the Brickfields of Passor, India These children are expert brick makers; they work alongside their parents and siblings, some as young as 8 years old. If a family of four works long and hard, they may make 1000 bricks a day and earn $5.56 - enough to feed themselves for day. Child labor is forbidden in India but since their parents are so poor, the entire family must work in order to avoid starvation. These children deserve a better childhood and brighter future! The Salesians are in the process of building a new center to help these children and their families obtain better housing, food and education. Very small children can come and play and have a nutritious snack; working children can come for two hours of learning, recreation and rest. Published: October 26, 2011 |
